How Nuliko Uses AI

What AI does in Nuliko

Nuliko uses artificial intelligence (specifically Anthropic's Claude API) to personalise your child's learning. Here's what it does:

  • Generates learning content — writing guides, reading passages, and maths problems are created on the spot, shaped to your child's age, level, and interests.
  • Reads handwriting — when you upload a photo of your child's work, AI reads the handwriting and extracts the text.
  • Gives feedback — AI assesses the work against a rubric and provides encouraging, specific feedback on what went well and what to practise next.
  • Adjusts difficulty — over time, the system tracks mastery and adjusts the level so your child is always appropriately challenged.
  • Summarises progress — AI generates plain-English progress summaries so you can see the bigger picture.

What AI does NOT do

  • ✗ Does not replace parents or teachers — it's a support tool, not a substitute for human guidance.
  • ✗ Does not make unsupervised decisions about your child's education.
  • ✗ Does not sell or share your child's data with advertisers.
  • ✗ Does not use your child's data to build advertising profiles.
  • ✗ Does not use your child's work to train AI models.
  • ✗ Does not interact directly with children — a parent is always in the loop.

Which AI provider we use

We use Anthropic's Claude API (a commercial AI service). Key points about how Anthropic handles data:

  • Data sent via the commercial API is not used to train Anthropic's models (this is Anthropic's stated policy for commercial/API use).
  • Anthropic processes data to generate a response and does not retain it for model improvement.
  • Anthropic acts as a data processor on our behalf.

AI limitations

AI-generated feedback may occasionally contain errors. It is designed to be helpful and encouraging, but:

  • It is not a substitute for a qualified teacher's assessment.
  • Handwriting recognition may occasionally misread characters, especially with very young children's writing.
  • Scores and feedback should be taken as guidance, not definitive judgement.

Your control

You can:

  • View all AI-generated feedback in your child's progress pages.
  • Delete any session and its associated AI feedback.
  • Delete your child's entire profile and all data at any time.
  • Contact us at hello@nuliko.com with any concerns about AI processing.
