Mission 1🔎 Clause Hunter
Underline the subordinate clause in each sentence (the part that can't stand alone).
- Although it was raining, we went to the park.
- The dog, which had been sleeping, suddenly barked.
- We can start once everyone is ready.
Mission 2⁏ The Semi-colon Join
Join each pair of related sentences with a semi-colon (no capital after it).
- It was late. We kept working.
- The sky darkened. Rain began to fall.
- She loved reading. Her brother preferred sport.
Mission 3🔄 Active or Passive?
Label each sentence A (active) or P (passive).
- The window was broken by the storm.
- The chef cooked a wonderful meal.
- A decision will be made tomorrow.
Mission 4🕵️ Word Class Detective
Name the word class (noun, verb, adjective or adverb) of each underlined word.
- The GLEAMING sword lay on the table. (gleaming)
- She RAN quickly to the door. (ran)
- He spoke SOFTLY. (softly)
Mission 5✍️ Now Write!
Write two sentences: one that uses a subordinate clause, and one written in the passive voice.
